hazelnut butter meringues | the thoughtful plateIt’s been too cold to photograph anything to share on here lately, and I’m not just saying that. I would seriously get frostbite, and that fact can be corroborated by the national weather service, or whoever it is that gets to state “truth” about the weather.

So today is the perfect day to share a recipe that I made a few weeks ago but never posted! These cute little things are from this month’s issue of Bon Appetit magazine, and when I came across them on the first read-through, I ran to the freezer to see if I still had some hazelnuts on hand. Processed with VSCOcam with f1 presetI caved last night and ate about 3 square inches of gluten, in the form of this, probably THEE most unbelievably amazing flatbread I’ve ever had in my life. And I really don’t feel like that’s an overstatement at all, though I will confess that at times I do feel like the queen of superlatives. (I like to call it “being enthusiastic”.)

It’s safe to say that good bread is one of my family’s love languages. So when they had to be away for a whole day, leaving the evening meal in my hands, I made bread. It’s just a little extra effort that makes dinner that much more special and enjoyable. Continue reading
