bread with olive oil and chocolate

IMG_2181This is not necessarily a recipe. It’s just a simple afternoon snack idea. You can decide for yourself how many little pieces of bread constitute a proper snack. You can decide how much chocolate you want (or need) too. It’s totally up to you!

The combination of crusty bread and melty chocolate alone is very pleasing. But the addition of olive oil and sea salt pushes this snack over the top!!

Here’s what you’ll need…

French baguette slices, about 1/2-inch thick
Bittersweet or dark chocolate, cut into small chunks or shavings
Extra-virgin olive oil (I like Spanish olive oil from Trader Joe’s)
Coarse sea salt
Raspberries on the side are 100% optional, but 100% recommended

 
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Brush each slice of bread with a little bit of olive oil and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Toast the bread in the oven for about 3 minutes per side.

Remove the bread from the oven and top each piece with chocolate.  If you like, you can drizzle a little bit more olive oil over the chocolate.  Sprinkle sea salt over each piece and enjoy!
